Hello
Hi, I’m Joe Foreshew, founder of Joe Foreshew Performance Analysis and Training. I bring 27 years of experience as a physical trainer and coach, alongside over 40 years of personal experience as a runner. I help athletes, teams, and coaches improve their performance through clear analysis, practical feedback, and focused training. I have worked with a wide range of individuals, from people returning from rehabilitation and elite airborne soldiers to runners of all abilities, from beginners through to international athletes. My aim is to make performance development simple, useful, and personal to every athlete or team I work with.
My coaching philosophy is to “let eagles fly”: helping individuals recognise their potential, build confidence, and develop the tools they need to perform at their best. This belief has been shaped by my own journey in sport, the Army, education, and coaching, and it continues to guide the way I work with every athlete.
My Story
My passion for running started at a young age. I became a county cross country champion before progressing to win the British Inter-Counties Championship as an under-17 athlete, representing England and earning selection to run for Great Britain.
I joined the Army in 1996 and served for 26 years, beginning my career as a Gunner with 7 Para RHA before joining the Royal Army Physical Training Corps. I specialised as a rehabilitation instructor and senior military instructor, physically preparing Britain’s elite 16 Air Assault Brigade for operations. During this time, I received a Commander Field Army’s Commendation in recognition of my work.
I hold a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science and an MSc in Sports Coaching. I am also a Level 3 Endurance Coach and a Senior Lecturer in Rehabilitation and Physiology at the Tactical Athlete Performance Centre at Buckinghamshire New University. This gives me a blend of academic rigour and real-world experience that underpins the way I coach, analyse performance, and support athletes.
Alongside my military career, I continued to compete as an athlete, representing the Army and the Inter-Services across track, road, and cross country. I also became Army Team Manager and Endurance Lead, organising training camps in the Alps and South Africa to prepare athletes for major events. On leaving the Army, I was awarded the President’s Trophy for services to Army athletics.

Over the years, I have coached many teams to success, helping them win multiple Army championships. I was President of the RAPTC road and cross country teams and served as both officer in charge and participant in a successful world record attempt for the fastest team to run from Land’s End to John o’ Groats in just under four days.
Community has always been an important part of my journey. I am co-founder and Event Director of Tidworth parkrun, and founder and chairman of Ventura Runners running club, helping to create welcoming environments where people can enjoy running, improve their fitness, and feel part of something positive.
I am passionate about coaching and helping individuals perform at their best, no matter how fast they run. I place a strong emphasis on community and on helping runners understand their own physiology, so they can train effectively, perform confidently, and get the most from their running. By combining a scientific approach with real-world experience, I aim to help runners achieve their goals and gain maximum enjoyment from every stage of their running journey.
