Performance Tests

Our VO₂ max and lactate tests are offered as separate services, so you can book the assessment that best fits your goals. Some athletes prefer to start with a lactate test to understand their efficiency and threshold zones, while others come in specifically for a VO₂ max test to measure their aerobic capacity.

If you want the full picture, you can combine both tests into one session, giving you detailed insight into how your body responds across the entire intensity range.

Whether you choose one test or both, you’ll receive clear, personalised training guidance based on your results, so you can train with purpose and confidence.

Choosing Your Testing Options

Our VO₂ max and lactate tests are offered as separate services, so you can book the assessment that best fits your goals. Some athletes prefer to start with a lactate test to understand their efficiency and threshold zones, while others come in specifically for a VO₂ max test to measure their aerobic capacity. If you want the full picture, you can combine both tests into one session, giving you detailed insight into how your body responds across the entire intensity range.

You can choose to have the test carried out at your own home on your equipment, or come into the Performance Centre if you prefer a controlled testing environment.

Whether you choose one test or both, you’ll receive clear, personalised training guidance based on your results, including an easy‑to‑use PDF of your training zones, so you can train with purpose and confidence.

What to Expect & How to Prepare

Whether you book a VO₂ max test, a lactate test, or combine both, the aim is to make the session smooth, clear and comfortable. When you arrive, we’ll talk you through the setup, explain each stage of the test, and make sure you feel prepared before starting.

To get the most accurate results, it’s important you come in fresh, so please avoid any intense training for at least 48 hours beforehand, light movement is fine, but no hard intervals, long runs, or heavy gym work.

Wear comfortable training kit, ideally the kit you race in or the clothing you normally train in, along with the shoes you regularly run in, as the test is performed on a treadmill or bike depending on your sport.

Bring water and a small towel. We’ll guide you through the session step‑by‑step, collect the data you need, and make sure you leave with clear, personalised training guidance you can use straight away.
